Residential Treatment Program

Hillcrest Educational Centers provides quality residential care for children and adolescents with serious emotional and/or developmental challenges. Serving five distinct populations across four campuses, we assure our students receive an intensive therapeutic experience in a safe, trauma-informed setting. Utilizing a variety of evidence-based practices, students who have suffered past trauma and/or school failure will learn new skills that will help replace high-risk behaviors with self-regulation and safe decision-making, resulting in improved relationships and academic success.

Our students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) receive state of the art instruction through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). With 1:1 instruction, technological support, and the guidance of Board Certified Behavior Analysts, our ASD students learn and grow in a highly structured environment that fosters academic achievement and significant reductions in injurious behavior.

All of our residential programs are highly staffed with great attention to safety while promoting positive relationships and academic growth. Each with its own fully licensed special education program, students receive individualized academic programming in smaller classroom sizes. Students earn credits towards graduation while preparing for state-specific testing. Vocational programming is offered at each site with a variety of choices to satisfy each student’s interests. Individual, group, and milieu therapies are conducted throughout the week and a multitude of recreational opportunities are offered regularly.

Hillcrest recognizes that families play an integral role in their child’s success, and are encouraged to help drive his or her treatment planning, visit often, and participate in our monthly Family Strong events. Our Family Permanency Specialists will support families in facing the many challenges of having a child in residential care while assisting them with discharge preparation.
